خلفية
في 8 أكتوبر 2021، اعتمد مجلس حقوق الإنسان التابع للأمم المتحدة قرارًا يعترف بالحق في بيئة نظيفة وصحية ومستدامة. بفضل دعوة المجتمع المدني والشعوب الأصلية والحركات الاجتماعية والمجتمعات المحلية والخبراء القانونيين، فضلاً عن قيادة حكومات كوستاريكا وجزر المالديف والمغرب وسلوفينيا وسويسرا، والمعروفة أيضًا باسم "المجموعة الأساسية"، التي كانت تدعو إلى هذا الاعتراف وبفضل الدعوة النشطة للمجتمع المدني والخبراء القانونيين، تم اعتماد القرار دون تصويت مضاد وامتناع 4 أعضاء فقط عن التصويت.
في تصويت تاريخي، في 28 يوليو 2022، اعترفت أعلى هيئة في الأمم المتحدة - الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة - عالميًا بالحق في بيئة نظيفة وصحية ومستدامة.
بعد مرور عام تقريبًا على الاعتراف، تم الاعتراف بالتحالف لدوره الحاسم في الدعوة إلى الاعتراف بالحق في بيئة صحية من قبل الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة في عام 2022.
تُمنح هذه الجائزة كل خمس سنوات، وهذه هي المرة الأولى على الإطلاق التي تُمنح فيها لتحالف عالمي. سيتم تقديم الجائزة في نيويورك في 10 ديسمبر، والذي يصادف أيضًا الذكرى السنوية الخامسة والسبعين للإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان، مما يجعل هذا الاعتراف أكثر تميزًا.

La Coalition Mondiale de la Société Civile, des Peuples Autochtones, des Mouvements Sociaux, et des Communautés Locales pour la Reconnaissance Universelle du Droit à un Environnement Propre, Sain et Durable gagne le prix des droits de l’homme 2023 de l’ONU.
C’est à la fois une reconnaissance impressionnante du pouvoir de notre travail collectif, et une opportunité politique d’amplifier des messages clés.
CONTEXTE
Le 8 octobre 2021, le Conseil des droits de l’homme de l’ONU (CDH) adoptait une résolution reconnaissant le droit à un environnement propre, sain et durable. Ceci est le résultat du plaidoyer de la société civile, de Peuples Autochtones, de mouvements sociaux, de communautés locales et d’experts juridiques, ainsi que du rôle-clé joué par les gouvernements du Costa Rica, des Maldives, du Maroc, de la Slovénie et de la Suisse, formant le groupe restreint d’Etats menant les négociations en faveur de la reconnaissance. C’est encore grâce à ce plaidoyer de la société civile et d’experts juridiques que la résolution a pu être adoptée sans vote contre et seulement 4 abstentions.
Lors d’un vote historique, le 28 juillet 2022, le plus haut organe des Nations Unies, l’Assemblée générale (AG), reconnaissait, à son tour, le droit universel à un environnement propre, sain et durable.
Près d’un an après la reconnaissance, la Coalition est récompensée pour son rôle capital dans le plaidoyer pour cette reconnaissance du droit à un environnement propre, sain et durable par l’AG en 2022.
Le prix des droits de l’homme est donné tous les cinq ans, et c’est la première fois qu’il est accordé à une Coalition Mondiale. Il sera remis à New York, le 10 décembre qui marquera également le 75ème anniversaire de la Déclaration Universelle des Droits de l’Homme, rendant cette reconnaissance encore plus spéciale.

This is both an impressive recognition of the power of our collective work as well as a great political opportunity to amplify key messages.
BACKGROUND
On October 8, 2021, the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) adopted a resolution recognizing the right to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment. Thanks to the advocacy of civil society, Indigenous Peoples, social movements, local communities, and legal experts, as well as the leadership of governments of Costa Rica, Maldives, Morocco, Slovenia, and Switzerland, also known as the “Core Group”, that have been advocating for this recognition and thanks to the active advocacy of civil society and legal experts, the resolution was adopted with no votes against and only 4 abstentions.
In an historic vote, on July 28, 2022, the highest body of the United Nations - the UN General Assembly - universally recognized the right to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment.
Almost one year after the recognition, the Coalition is recognized for its critical role in advocating for the recognition of the right to a healthy environment by the UN General Assembly in 2022.
This Award is given every five years, and it is the first time ever, that is given to a Global Coalition. The prize will be bestowed in New York on December 10, which also marks the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, making this recognition even more special.
